This International Women’s Day let’s provide leave when it matters most
All of us know people who have been affected by miscarriage, pregnancy loss or who have had challenges conceiving.
Yet there are no compassionate supports for women in the workplace when they experience this loss.
On International Women’s Day in 2021, the Labour Party published legislation that would provide up to 20 days paid leave for any woman who experiences miscarriage or pregnancy loss.
Four years on, we are calling on Government to update our law to support women when they need it most.
Labour’s Reproductive Health Leave Bill would provide 20 days leave for women who suffer pregnancy loss, as well as 10 days leave for any worker who is undergoing fertility treatment.
This International Women’s Day, let’s give women the right to compassionate leave after miscarriage.
